Bacchus Handmade Mistress Blue Oil 2021

Bacchus Handmade Mistress, blue oil, made in Japan 2021. This is a beautiful guitar, and a pretty unusual one. The Mistress was a briefly-made signature model for French blues rocker Laura Cox. This example was apparently a custom order, one of three without Laura's signature inlay, for a Norwegian musician; each with a different neck profile. He kept one and sold the others, so this one was released into the wild. The specs are very classy: one piece African mahogany body, maple carved top, wraparound bridge and a single Lollar P-90 pickup. At 3.3kg, it's very light for a guitar in this genre, and the neck is a super comfy slim 60s style shape. It's very lively in the hands, with plenty of unplugged volume and a fast, snappy response. The pickup sounds great too: creamy and warm through the mids, lots of attack and weight down low, plenty of open singing clarity up top. The oil finish is kinda like a pair of jeans: designed to rub up and fade. It feels nice in the hands and is already wearing in an interesting way, with the grain showing through in lots of interesting ways. This is all class, it's very good indeed.
